You’ll get access to our easy-to-use client portal (through Time To Pet) where you can book walks, set recurring visits, message your walker, and more. So simple, even your dog could (almost) do it. 🐕

Yes! All of our dog walkers are House of Paws employees, not independent contractors, and receive over 20 hours of hands-on, ongoing training. Each team member is Pet First Aid & CPR certified and trained in:

• Canine body language

• Positive reinforcement handling

• Leash safety and route planning

This is one of our favorite questions because the answer is yes, and we specialize in it. We understand that not every dog is easy-breezy on a leash, and that's okay. Every dog deserves to be walked with patience and skill, not just the well-behaved ones.

We'll always do a meet-and-greet first to understand your dog's specific needs, triggers, and what works best for them. We follow your lead, honor your training methods, and never try to "fix" your dog, we just show up for them exactly as they are.

Building trust and routine is super important (especially for the shy pups!). While we aim to keep the same primary walker with your dog for consistency, House of Paws is proudly team-based and that comes with some awesome perks!

All of our staff are:

• W2 employees (no contractors)

• Trained in the same House of Paws protocols

• Pet First Aid & CPR certified

• Trained in positive reinforcement, canine behavior, and safety handling

That means every member of our team provides the same high standard of care, no matter who’s holding the leash.

Our team approach ensures:

You'll always know who’s visiting your pet (thanks to your client portal updates!), and we’ll communicate any changes ahead of time because peace of mind is part of the walk.

Safety is our top priority, for your dog, your home, and our walkers.

We also do not allow your dog to interact with other dogs, people, or animals during our walk time, unless specifically approved by you and pre-arranged. This helps prevent overstimulation, unexpected reactions, or unsafe situations.

Your dog gets our full attention, and every walk is designed to be structured, calm, and enjoyable for them, no crowded dog park chaos here.

We also use slip & clip style leashes (aka Rescue Rope Leads) to ensure secure, quick control without relying on client gear. These leads are vet-approved and help prevent accidental slip-outs during walks!

St. Louis weather has a personality of its own, we get it. Here's how we handle it:

For light rain or cold weather, we still walk! We dress for it so your pup doesn't miss out. For severe weather like thunderstorms, dangerous heat, ice, we'll communicate with you proactively and find the best solution together, whether that's a shorter outing, indoor enrichment time, or rescheduling.

We always wipe paws and make sure to get any mud off before coming home, too! No soaked paws here! We will never put your dog's safety at risk to check a box. Safety always comes first.

Yes! After every walk, you’ll receive a detailed report card in your client portal with:

• Start/end times

• Potty updates 💩✅

• Route summary

• Notes about the walk (mood, energy, fun moments!)

• Adorable photos 📸

Cancellations with more than 24 hours notice are completely free. Cancellations within 24 hours are charged at the full visit rate.

VIP members are the exception! Cancellation fees are waived entirely as part of their membership benefits. Ask us about our VIP program when you get started.
